Please join us for the 6th Annual Earth Day Community Clean up event, scheduled for Saturday April 20th from 9 a.m. to noon, meeting at the Sports Arena parking located at 1640 Outer Hammond St. in Hermon.
It is an opportunity to volunteer and make a difference in our community by cleaning up litter in our local neighborhoods, parks and roadways. Past events have been very successful with groups of 50 people collecting more than 100 bags in Hermon alone. With more people, we can extend out to other parts of town.
Volunteers of all ages are welcome. Gloves, bags, safety vents and water will be provided. The event is rain or shine, so please dress accordingly. As always, trucks and trailers are needed to help assist with the pick up and transport of large items and trash bags.
Sponsorships and donations are always welcomed to assist with the funding of gloves, bags, safety vests, water, t-shirts, snacks, advertising and other promotional materials. In addition, two or three additional volunteers are needed to assist with the event logistics between 8:30 and 9:15 a.m.
The coverage area will include all of Hermon and the western side of Bangor. The event is hosted by Maine Cleanup, a citizen initiative group managed by Tim Pellett of Hermon. Any activity within Bangor limits is also supported by the City of Bangor and the Bangor Area Stormwater Group. For more information, please call Tim Pellett at 217-1497, email email@example.com.
